Platinum Tune supplies tuning files to people new to tuning, anywhere in the world. Starting your tuning journey, or adding tuning to the work you already do? You don't need to learn calibration. You read the car with a tool, upload the read, and write back the file we send. We'll tell you honestly which tool suits your work, and help with your first jobs.

No tool yet? Choose “None or not sure” on the form and we'll message you on WhatsApp.

For garages, mobile mechanics, auto locksmiths, tuners, and enthusiasts starting their tuning journey.

  • A dealer portal login: you create it after you apply

Not neededCalibration software, or calibration skills. We prepare your calibrated file.

Starter route

How do I get from no tool to my first job?

Four steps, with us beside you at each one: on WhatsApp before you apply, in the portal after.

  1. Step 1: Talk to us

Tell us on WhatsApp what cars you see and how you like to work.

  2. Step 2: Choose your tool

We'll tell you honestly which tool suits you, master or slave, with the dealer price by quote.

  3. Step 3: Apply

No tool yet? Choose “None or not sure”. You create your portal login once you have one.

  4. Step 4: Your first jobs

Read, upload, write back. We work with you through your first jobs, with support in the portal.

Choosing a tool

Which tool should I start with?

The right tool depends on the cars you see and how you work. Tell us both and we'll tell you honestly what suits you. The dealer price comes on WhatsApp.

Master

Reads and writes the car. The reads are yours, so you can send them to any file service, or work on files yourself with calibration software later.

SuitsAnyone who wants to choose their file service, or plans to calibrate one day.

Slave

Reads and writes the car, but it is linked to one file service's master tool, so its reads go to that service for the file.

SuitsAnyone who will send every file to one service and doesn't plan to calibrate.

What you can offer

Which files can I offer my customers?

Every file comes back through the same portal, from the read you upload. You set your own price for your customers.

  • Performance files

Stage 1 and Stage 2, for cars and vans

  • Economy files

Set up for steady torque and lower running costs

  • Gearbox files

    Automatic and dual-clutch gearboxes (TCU)

  • DPF, EGR and AdBlue solutions — for off-road and motorsport use only

You're responsible for how a file is used: see clause 4 of our dealer terms.

  • And much more

Every solution for each ECU family is listed in the portal. Not listed? Ask support in the portal.

Your first jobs

Your first jobs, with us in the portal.

We work with you through your first jobs, with support in the portal, so you're not left to work it out alone. Bought a tool from us? We help with training and your first jobs on WhatsApp, or hands-on at Unit 11.

  • Before you take the job on

Send us the car and the work your customer wants, and we'll tell you what to expect.

  • While you read the car

Unsure about a connection or a read? Message the file desk in the portal before you go further.

  • After you write back

If something isn't right on the car, tell us what you're seeing and we'll go through it with you.

  • Training

A free training session comes with the Autotuner tools and the Autotuner starter kit from our shop, with help to install and set up the tool and live technical support during file service hours. File service hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm; Saturday, 9am to 4pm; Sunday, closed (UK time).

Notes for your first jobs

  • Start with cars you know. If you have a particular car in mind, ask us before you take the job on.
  • Keep a battery support unit on the car while you read and write.
  • Save the original read exactly as your tool made it, and keep your own copy.
  • You set your own price for your customers. Your dealer rate for files comes on WhatsApp.
  • Ask your customer to tell their insurer about the remap.

Questions

Questions from people new to tuning

Straight answers, including why there's no price list on this site.

Do I need tuning experience?

No. You don't calibrate anything yourself. You read the car with your tool, upload the read, and write back the file we send. We work with you through your first jobs, with support in the portal, so you're not left to work it out alone.

What do I need to start?

A tool that can read and write the car's ECU, a battery support unit to keep the voltage steady while you read and write, and a laptop that runs the tool's software. You don't need calibration software: we do the calibration.

Which tool should I buy?

The one that suits the cars you see and how you work, including whether a master or a slave tool fits: tell us on WhatsApp and we'll tell you honestly. We also supply tools: ask for the dealer price.

Master or slave: what's the difference?

Both read and write the car. A master tool's reads are yours to send to any file service. A slave tool is linked to one file service's master tool, so its reads go to that service. Tell us how you work and we'll tell you which suits you.

Can I apply without a tool?

Yes. Choose “None or not sure” on the form. We'll message you on WhatsApp to talk about your work and the right tool, and you create your portal login once you have one.

Will you help with my first jobs?

Yes. We work with you through your first jobs: ask support in the portal with any question about a job, before or after you upload.

Do you offer training?

Yes.

What should I charge my customers?

That's your decision: you set your own price for your customers. Your dealer rate for files comes on WhatsApp, so you know your file cost before you take a job on.

Why don't you show prices?

Dealer rates are for dealers, so we keep them off the public site. Every car and ECU is different, and dealers outside the UK are quoted separately. Apply, or ask on WhatsApp, and we'll send you your rate.

What files can you do?

ECU and gearbox (TCU) files for cars and vans: performance, economy and gearbox work. Other calibration options: ask support in the portal.

Who can apply?

Garages, mobile mechanics, auto locksmiths, diagnostic specialists, tuners, and enthusiasts starting their tuning journey, in any country. If you work at your customers' addresses, you don't need a workshop of your own. We're a UK company with a workshop at Unit 11, Wembley Park Business Centre.
