The short version
A quick summary. The full terms below are what apply.
- Each product shows its price, and the checkout shows the total you pay before you pay.
- Payment is taken securely by Stripe, in full before dispatch.
- We deliver to UK addresses, tracked, signed for and insured for the full price, for £20, £35 or £105 depending on the order total (orders over £5,000 add 1% of the amount above £5,000, for insurance), added at checkout. Ask us about delivery elsewhere.
- Most tools need activation with their manufacturer and come with the manufacturer's licence terms and warranty.
- If you buy as a consumer at a distance, you normally have 14 days to cancel. Some licence and activation items are excepted, as clause 8 explains.
- Your legal rights if goods are faulty are not affected.
1. About these terms
- These terms apply when you buy tuning tools, interfaces, software licences, activations, subscriptions, accessories or other goods ("products") from Platinum Tune Ltd ("we", "us"), whether through this website, by payment link, or by agreeing an order with us on WhatsApp or by email.
- You are a consumer if you buy as an individual, wholly or mainly outside your trade, business, craft or profession. You are a business customer if you buy for your trade, business, craft or profession. Some clauses apply only to one or the other, and say so.
- If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights, including those under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
- Please read these terms before you order. We will send them with your order confirmation, or you can save this page.
2. Products and suitability
- Our products are professional tools made by third-party manufacturers. Descriptions and images are a guide, and packaging or appearance can differ slightly.
- No tool works with every vehicle or control unit. Before you buy, tell us what you want to work on and we will check compatibility. We do this at no charge.
- Reading and writing vehicle control units carries a risk if instructions are not followed. Always use a stable power supply, follow the manufacturer's instructions and keep a backup of the original file.
- You are responsible for using products lawfully and in line with the manufacturer's licence terms, including the law on vehicle modifications, road use and insurance.
3. Prices
- Each product in our shop shows its price, and the checkout page shows the total you pay, including any delivery charge, before you pay. If we quote you a price on WhatsApp or by email instead, we confirm it in writing before you pay.
- Any price we confirm in writing will show any delivery charge separately. If you are a consumer, the price shown to you before payment is the total you pay.
- If we make an obvious error in a price, we will contact you before we accept your order. If we have already accepted it, we may cancel it and refund you in full.
- Subscription, protocol or renewal fees that a manufacturer charges directly are not part of our price unless we say so.
- Sales and discounts. When a product is on sale, the sale price is the price at the time you order. It is fixed when you start the checkout, and that checkout stays open for about half an hour. Only one promotion applies to each item's price. Delivery is free when a sale with free UK delivery covers your order. We can end a promotion early. A sale does not change your legal rights.
4. Ordering
- You ask us for a quote or choose a product, and we confirm the product, price, delivery and any activation details.
- You pay through our secure checkout or a payment link. Paying is an offer to buy. The contract is formed when we confirm that we have accepted your order, by email or WhatsApp. We normally do this when your payment succeeds.
- If we cannot accept your order (for example, the product is out of stock or no longer available, or we cannot verify the order), we will tell you and refund any payment in full.
- For business customers, these terms apply instead of any terms you send us.
5. Payment
- Payments are taken by Stripe, on its secure checkout page. You can pay by card, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay or Google Pay; the checkout shows the ones you can use. If you pay by card, you enter your card details on Stripe's secure page; we never see or store your full card number.
- If you choose PayPal or Klarna, they also process your details, as independent controllers, under their own privacy policies: PayPal's privacy policy and Klarna's privacy policy. Klarna may check your eligibility first. If you pay with Klarna, we are paid in full, and you then pay Klarna under your agreement with them.
- We take payment in full before dispatch, unless we agree something else in writing, such as payment by bank transfer.
- Products remain ours until we have received payment in full.
6. Delivery and risk
- We deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom. UK delivery is charged by the order total, which is the price you pay for the goods, after any sale price: £20 for orders up to £1,000, £35 up to £2,500 and £105 over £2,500 (orders over £5,000 add 1% of the amount above £5,000, rounded up to the next whole pound, for insurance). Every UK parcel is tracked, signed for and insured for the full price you paid. The delivery charge is added at checkout, or included in the price we confirm in writing, and shown before you pay. For delivery elsewhere, ask us first. We will confirm the delivery charge before you pay; import duty and local taxes are set by the destination country and are paid by you when the parcel arrives.
- Delivery times we give are estimates. If you are a consumer and we have not agreed a date, we will deliver within 30 days of accepting your order. If we are delayed, we will tell you as soon as we can.
- Please check the parcel when it arrives and tell us within 48 hours if it is damaged or anything is missing. For consumers, this does not affect your rights in clause 9.
- Risk of loss or damage passes to you when the products are delivered to the address you gave us, or to someone you nominate.
- If nobody is available to accept delivery and the parcel comes back to us, we will contact you to rearrange it. We may charge reasonable redelivery costs.
7. Licences, activation and software
- Many tools only work once they are activated or registered with their manufacturer, usually against the tool's serial number. Where activation is part of your order, we will arrange it or tell you how to do it.
- To activate a tool, we may need to give the manufacturer or its distributor your name, business name and the tool's serial number.
- Software, firmware, protocols and licences are supplied under the manufacturer's own licence terms, which you must accept and follow. You receive a licence to use them, not ownership.
- Some tools are supplied as "slave" tools, paired to a "master" tool so they can only open files prepared by that master's holder. If we supply a slave tool, we will tell you before you pay which master account it will be paired with.
- Some features need manufacturer subscriptions, protocol packs or renewals. Their availability and pricing are controlled by the manufacturer.
- Once a manufacturer has applied an activation, pairing or licence, we cannot reverse it.
8. Your right to cancel (consumers)
- If you are a consumer and you bought at a distance (online, on WhatsApp, by email or by phone, without meeting us in person to agree the contract), you can cancel within 14 days after the day you, or someone you nominate, receive the products. If an order arrives in separate deliveries, the 14 days run from the day after the last one arrives.
- To cancel, tell us clearly before the 14 days end, by email to [email protected] or on WhatsApp on +44 7777 370040. You do not have to give a reason. You can use this wording: "I am cancelling my order for [product], ordered on [date] and received on [date]. [Your name, address and order reference]." Or you can copy the model cancellation form at the end of this clause into an email or a letter. You do not have to use either.
- Send the products back to us within 14 days after you tell us you are cancelling. We will give you the return address. Unless the products are faulty or not as described, you pay the cost of returning them.
- We will refund the price you paid, including the standard delivery charge, within 14 days after we receive the products back, or after you show us proof that you sent them back, if that is earlier. We refund using the method you paid with.
- You can handle the products as you would in a shop, to check what they are and how they work. If they are handled beyond that and lose value as a result, we may reduce your refund by that loss in value.
- Exceptions. The right to cancel does not apply, or ends early, in these cases:
- Sealed software: software supplied on a sealed physical medium, once you unseal it after delivery.
- Digital licences, activations and subscriptions: digital content not supplied on a physical medium (such as a licence, activation code, protocol or subscription), once supply has started, if you asked for it to start within the 14 days and acknowledged that you would lose your right to cancel. We will ask you for this in writing before we, or the manufacturer, apply it.
- Personalised goods: products made to your specification or clearly personalised for you.
Where an exception applies only to a licence or activation, you can still cancel the rest of your order under this clause. We will tell you before you pay which parts of your order, if any, these exceptions cover.
- Business customers have no legal right to cancel. We may accept the return of unused, unopened and unactivated products at our discretion; please ask us first.

9. Faulty goods
- Consumers: the law says products must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and digital content must meet the same standards. If they are not, you are entitled to: within 30 days of delivery, reject the products and get a full refund; after that, or if you prefer, a repair or replacement; and if a repair or replacement is not possible or does not fix the problem, a price reduction or a refund. If a fault appears within 6 months of delivery, it is presumed to have been there at delivery unless we show otherwise. You may be able to claim for up to 6 years. This is a summary of your rights; Citizens Advice has more detail.
- Business customers: we promise that products will match their description and be free from material defects when delivered. If they are not, tell us within a reasonable time of finding the problem and we will, at our choice, repair, replace or refund them. As far as the law allows, this is your only remedy for faulty products.
- A problem is not a fault in the products if it is caused by: misuse, accidental damage or ignoring the manufacturer's instructions; using the tool on a vehicle or control unit it does not support; an unstable power supply or an interrupted read or write; software or files from other sources; or changes or repairs by anyone other than us or the manufacturer.
- Please contact us before returning a faulty product so we can arrange the return. We pay reasonable return costs for products that are faulty.
10. Manufacturer warranty
- Most tools come with the manufacturer's own warranty. Its length and conditions are set by the manufacturer; ask us before you buy and we will tell you what applies.
- If you need to make a warranty claim, contact us and we will help you deal with the manufacturer or its distributor. Warranty repairs are carried out by the manufacturer, which sets the turnaround time.
- A manufacturer warranty is in addition to your legal rights and does not affect them.
11. Our liability
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit or exclude.
- Consumers: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable. If you are a consumer, we supply products for private use; if you use them for business, we are not liable to you for any loss of profit, business, business opportunity or business interruption.
- Business customers: we are not liable, whether in contract, negligence or otherwise, for any loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, for any indirect or consequential loss, or for damage to vehicles or control units arising from how a tool is used. Our total liability in connection with an order is limited to the price paid for that order.
12. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as carrier problems, supply shortages, or outages at a manufacturer or its activation servers. If this happens, we will tell you and take steps to reduce the effect. If the delay is long, you can cancel and we will refund you for products you have not received.
13. Your information
We use your details to process and deliver your order and to arrange any activation, as explained in our privacy policy.
14. General and governing law
- We may update these terms. The version on this page when you place your order applies to that order.
- If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our agreement. We may transfer ours to another business; we will tell you if we do, and it will not reduce your rights.
- Only you and we have rights under these terms.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts. Business customers agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
- If you have a complaint, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it quickly.
