Remapping · London
Questions about remapping.
Remapping for cars, vans, trucks and more in London, at Unit 11 Wembley or at your home or work: what a remap does, the quote and the day itself.
What affects your quote
- Your car and engine
- The ECU it uses
- The gearbox
- The stage you want
- The car's condition
- Any previous modifications
Every car and ECU is different, so we quote for yours instead of publishing prices. Send your reg and we reply on WhatsApp.
About remapping
What is ECU remapping?
Your engine's control unit (the ECU) runs software that sets how much fuel, boost and ignition timing the engine gets. Carmakers set it to suit many countries, fuels and climates, so most engines have some room left. A remap adjusts that calibration, for more power and torque, smoother delivery or better economy, depending on the service you choose. Nothing is bolted on, and the car looks the same.
Is remapping safe for my engine?
A remap changes how the engine is run, so who does it, and the condition of the car, matter. We check the car over before we touch its software, keep a copy of the original file, and set the calibration for the parts the car has. If the check finds a fault, we sort that out with you first, before any tuning.
How much more power will I get?
It depends on your engine, and we tell you what's typical for it when we quote. Turbocharged engines usually have more to give than non-turbo ones, and the car's condition matters too. We don't promise a number we haven't measured. Our power check shows the Stage 1 figures by engine.
What's the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2?
Can a remap improve fuel economy?
It can: an economy remap is set up for smoother delivery and easier cruising, rather than outright power. Fuel use depends on the car, your routes and how you drive as much as on the calibration, so we tell you what's typical for your car and never promise a saving.
Can you remap a DSG or automatic gearbox?
Yes, many of them. Automatic and dual-clutch gearboxes, such as DSG, ZF 8HP and S tronic, have their own control unit, and gearbox tuning sets the gear changes up for the engine, standard or remapped. Not every gearbox can be tuned, so send your reg and we'll check yours. A manual gearbox has no software to tune.
Tuning box or remap: what's the difference?
A tuning box sits between the engine's sensors and the ECU and changes the signals the ECU reads. A remap changes the calibration inside the ECU itself. If your car has a tuning box fitted, tell us when you send your reg, because it changes the job.
Which vehicles do you remap?
Cars, vans, trucks and more. Petrol and diesel, manual and automatic. Every vehicle and ECU is different, so send your reg and we'll tell you what we can do for yours. For working vans and small fleets, we tune for economy and drivability: see van and fleet remapping.
Quotes and the day
How much does a remap cost?
There's no fixed price: we quote for your exact car, because the price is set by your car and engine, the ECU it uses, the gearbox, the stage you want, the car's condition and any previous modifications. We don't publish a "from" price that might not be yours. Send us your reg on WhatsApp and a tuner replies with a real quote for your car.
How do I get a quote?
Send us your reg on WhatsApp, or type it into the plate on this page and the button opens WhatsApp with it filled in. We reply there with a quote for your car. Prefer to talk? Call us on +44 7777 370040.
Where do you do the work?
At our workshop, Unit 11, Wembley Park Business Centre, North End Road, Wembley HA9 0AS, or with mobile remapping at your home or work, anywhere in London. The same checks either way. Coming to Unit 11? Get directions.
What happens on the day?
- Check the car. We check your car over before we touch its software.
- Read and back up. We read your original file and keep a copy before we start.
- A file for your car. We prepare a calibration for your engine and gearbox.
- Write and test. We write the file to the car and test that it runs as it should.
- Handover. We hand the car back and answer any questions you have.
More on our ECU remapping in London page.
How long does a remap take?
We tell you how long your car will take when we quote, so you can plan your day: it depends on the car and the work. Gearbox and Stage 2 work can take longer.
A warning light is on. Can you still remap the car?
Not until we know why it's on. We look at the fault first, with diagnostics, and tell you what we found. Once the car is right, we quote for the remap.
My car was remapped somewhere else. Can you help?
Tell us when you send your reg, and who did the work if you know. We look at what's on the car before we quote, so any new file is set up for the car as it is now.
Can my car go back to standard later?
Yes, always. Every vehicle we remap can go back to standard. We keep a copy of your original file before we start, and even without it we can put the factory software back from our own large file database and dealer-level tools. More on back to stock.
Still have a question about your car?
Type your reg and the button opens WhatsApp with it filled in. Ask us anything there, and we'll quote for your car.
No reg to hand? Message us on WhatsApp anyway.

Insurance · Warranty · MOT
Insurance, warranty and the MOT.
Straight answers, with nothing hidden: a remap is a modification, and we tell you what that means.
The short version
- Please tell your insurer about any remap. Before the work is done, not after.
- Under warranty? Read the terms before you book.
- Performance, economy and gearbox tuning, set up for everyday driving. The car still takes the same MOT.
Insurance, warranty and the MOT
Do I need to tell my insurer about a remap?
Yes. Please tell your insurer about any remap. Insurers treat a remap as a modification, so let yours know before the work is done, not after. How to tell your insurer.
Will my insurance cost more after a remap?
It might: some insurers charge more for a modified car, and some don't. Ask yours before you book, so you know where you stand.
Will a remap affect my warranty?
It can: if your car is under a manufacturer or dealer warranty, the provider can turn down claims on parts a remap affects, such as the engine or gearbox. Read your warranty terms before you book, and ask the provider if you're not sure. Questions to ask your dealer.
Can I still have the car serviced at a main dealer?
Yes. A remap doesn't stop a car being serviced anywhere. Tell the dealer or garage the car has been remapped: if they update the engine software during a visit, the update can replace the remap, so ask them first.
Will my car still pass its MOT?
A remap doesn't change the MOT test itself: the car still has to pass the same checks as any other car, including the emissions test. We do performance, economy and gearbox tuning only, set up for everyday driving. What the MOT checks.
Is a remapped car still fine for everyday driving?
Yes. We set every remap up for everyday driving: performance, economy and gearbox tuning only. The car still has to pass the same MOT as any other car, including the emissions test, and you should tell your insurer. We keep your original file, so the car can always go back to standard.
I'm selling the car. What should I do?
Tell the buyer the car has been remapped, or have it put back to standard first. If we remapped it, we kept your original file, so we can always put it back: see back to stock. If you told your insurer about the remap, tell them when it's back to standard too.
Prices · Payments
Prices and payments.
Why there's no price list, how quotes work, and how dealers pay for files.
A quote, not a price list
Remapping: send your reg and we quote for your car on WhatsApp.
Remapping
Why don't you show prices for remapping?
Every car and ECU is different, so a price list would be wrong for most cars. We'd rather look at yours and quote for it. Send your reg on WhatsApp and we reply with a quote for your car.
Will I know the price before you start?
Yes. We quote for your car on WhatsApp before you book, and we don't start work you haven't agreed. If the check before we tune finds a fault, we tell you and agree what to do before anything else is done.
Dealers
How do dealers pay for files?
You add credit in the dealer portal and spend it on the files you order. Your dealer rate: ask on WhatsApp.
Why don't you show dealer prices?
A file depends on the car, the ECU and the work you need, and dealers outside the UK are quoted separately, so a price list would be wrong for most jobs. Ask on WhatsApp, or apply, and we'll send your dealer rate.
Is there a joining fee, a monthly fee or a minimum order?
No: no joining fee, no monthly fee and no minimum order. You pay for the files you order.
Tools shop
How do I pay for a tool from your shop?
Each product in our tools shop shows its price on the product page, and you pay at Stripe's secure checkout, by card, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Questions about a tool before you buy? Ask us on WhatsApp.

Getting started
Who can open a dealer account?
Garages, mobile mechanics, auto locksmiths, diagnostic specialists, tuners, and enthusiasts starting their tuning journey, in any country. If you work at your customers' addresses, you don't need a workshop of your own.
Can a private person open a dealer account?
Yes. Anyone aged 18 or over can open one: a business, a sole trader or a private person, for example an enthusiast tuning their own car. Choose "A private person" when you apply. You can cancel a top-up within 14 days for the credit you haven't used. You ask us to start each file straight away, so a file can't be cancelled once we have sent it. Our dealer terms explain it in full.
Is your tuning file service online and worldwide?
Yes. You upload the read to our dealer portal and download your file there, from anywhere in the world. When a job needs a conversation, the file desk is in the portal.
How does the file service work?
Online, step by step through the dealer portal:
- Apply. A short form. Tell us your tool and how many files you do a month.
- Add credit. Create your dealer portal login, then top up when you need files.
- Upload your read. Send the original read from your tool, with the car's details.
- Download and write. Your calibrated file comes back in the portal. Write it to the car.
More detail: how the file service works.
Do I need tuning experience?
No. You don't prepare files yourself: you read the car with your tool, upload the read and write back the file we send. We work with you through your first jobs, with support in the portal. New to tuning: start here.
I don't have a tool yet. Can I still apply?
Yes. Pick “None or not sure” on the application form and we'll message you on WhatsApp. We'll tell you honestly which tool suits the cars you see.
What happens after I apply?
It depends on how you apply and on your tool.
A business or sole trader with Autotuner, KESS3 or Flex: you can create your portal login straight after you apply. We also send your dealer rates on WhatsApp. Then you top up credit and send your first read.
A business or sole trader with another tool, or none yet: we message you on WhatsApp first, to talk through your tool and what you need to start. When you're ready, we send you the link to create your login.
A private person, with any tool: we message you on WhatsApp and send you our dealer terms as a PDF, with our confirmation of what you asked for when you applied. We also send you the link to create your login. Please wait for our confirmation before you order your first file.
Tools and reads
Which tools do you work with?
Autotuner, KESS3, K-TAG, Flex, bFlash, PCMflash, CMD Flash, FGTech Galletto, Bitbox and DFB Technology. Using something else? Ask us on WhatsApp before you apply, and we'll check it with you. Already a dealer? Ask support in the portal.
What's the difference between a master and a slave tool?
A master tool reads and writes the car, and the files it saves can be opened in tuning software, so with a master you can work on files yourself.
A slave tool is linked to one master, usually a file service. It reads and writes the car in the same way, but its reads are locked to that master, so you send each read to your file service and write back the file you get.
Tell us which you have, or are thinking of buying, and we'll confirm on WhatsApp how it works with us.
Can I apply with a master or a slave tool?
Yes. Pick master or slave on the application form, or “Not sure” if you don't know, and we'll confirm on WhatsApp how your tool works with us.
Can I switch from another file supplier?
Yes. Keep your tool and your customers, send us the read from your next car, and judge us on the file that comes back. If your tool is a slave linked to another supplier, ask us on WhatsApp what moving it involves before you apply. Switching from another supplier.
Which vehicles and ECUs do you do files for?
Engine (ECU) and gearbox (TCU) files for cars and vans, petrol and diesel, manual and automatic. Which ECUs your tool can read depends on the ECU and on how your tool is set up, so send the make, model and engine, and the ECU as your tool shows it, and we'll confirm the job before you read the car.
What do I upload?
The original read from the car, saved exactly as your tool made it, with the car's details and the work you want. If anything on the car has already been changed, tell us when you upload.
What if the car has been tuned before?
Tell us before you upload, and send the original file if you or the last tuner kept it. A file that has already been changed needs a look first, so ask support in the portal and we'll tell you what we need.
Files and support
What files can I order?
Performance (Stage 1 and Stage 2), economy and gearbox (TCU) files for cars and vans. Other calibration options: ask support in the portal. Gearbox (TCU) files.
How long does a file take?
Files are usually back within 30 minutes during desk hours. File desk hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm; Saturday, 9am to 4pm; Sunday, closed (UK time).
What if a file needs a change?
Ask support in the portal with what you're seeing on the car, and send a data log if you have one. We'll go through it with you.
Can I apply from outside the UK?
Yes. Pick your country on the application form. Dealers outside the UK are quoted separately on WhatsApp.
How do I log in to the dealer portal?
Log in to the portal. If something isn't working, contact portal support.
